Safety Metrics, Inc.

Working with the Safety Metric’s Behavioral Safety Services, PTG developed, earned management approval, validated, and implemented a broad-based employee safety attitude survey.
This survey was translated into Spanish for distribution to Hispanic workers, in addition to an English version. The survey was distributed to plants in the US and Canada in both paper and online format. The client, a manufacture, has 5500 employees and seven unique “Economic Business Units (EBU’s)” within its US and Canada facilities. Since the date of the initial survey, numerous other clients of Safety Metrics have participated in periodic safety surveys.
PTG collected the employee response data via online data entry or paper forms, entered the data using Rapid Data Entry, and produced a variety of feedback reports.
The published reports included comparison of data among various locations, and various corporate entities, examining the responses of various employee groups, and comparing and contrasting the striking differences within the various participating organizations. By establishing corporate baseline data and comparing EBUs, management was easily able to make informed decisions concerning safety training needs, and other relevant information.
The availability of PTG’s electronic survey preparation, distribution, response collection and analysis tool has meant that manual inputs collected by Safety Metrics from the factory floor can be input electronically, analyzed virtually in real-time and furnish reports to management immediately making possible rapid corrective action. Safety Metrics now produces and distributes its own surveys after completing a brief training session on how to use the basic tool.
